Gas fridge issue!

Post by twinkle »

Hi there. We are new to our 1989 autohomes komet t25 and have a problem! We can get the fridge to work when driving the van but can't get it to work with gas. The gas works to the hob and heater and the sparker is sparking in the fridge but no luck. We've tried making the van as level as possible but still to no avail. We are due a month touring Europe in August so need to get it sorted! Any hints? Ta.

Hi twinkle, welcome to the club. There are gas valves behind the pull down fascia in front of the sink - I assume you know this since the cooker is working. You have turned the gas control knob to three and kept it pushed in? If you don't keep it pushed in the gas won't flow as a safety mechanism - the gas can take a couple of minutes to come through too. Once lit, you hold it in for 10 seconds or so to allow the thermocouple to heat up and then you can release it.

If you've tried all that already there might be a problem at the burner end which usually means fetching the fridge out; or you could chance it using the gynecological procedure of removing the lower exterior ventilation vent but I'm not sure how much access this will allow you for examination/cleaning etc - but you can see how rusty your inner sill is too while you're in there.

Fridge manuals are in the Wiki and Downloads Section (via 'Club Stuff' tab at the top of the page).
