Battery went flat with lights left on. Jump started, ran and restarted fine. tried to start a week later, nothing!
is the battery dead? We had the battery light on and off sometimes when running, but no other problems.
can anyone tell me what battery spec the transporter wants?

If the battery light is coming on then theres a problem with the charging system.you might need to replace the brush pack on your alternator.Or tighten the belt.To check if your battery is ok.You need to take it off the van.charge it for 24hrs.Check the voltage.Leave it stood for another 24hrs.Check the voltage again. If this reading is lower.Chances are its not holding a charge and should be replaced. This thread is worth reading.https://club8090.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.p ... .#p7623554

It certainly sounds like a charging issue and the need to replace the voltage regulator bush pack in the first instance and externally charge the battery for 12 or more hours then test.
Voltage regulator replacement costs around a tenner and takes 10 minutes to change.
A new battery for a diesel needs to be 70/72ah and have a minimum CCA of 650 (the second figure being most important on a Diesel)
