C&CC temporary sites

Post by rainman »

I've been a member of the Camping & Caravaning Club for a couple of years now but have never been to one of the temporary sites as listed in the back of the monthly magazine. Usually when camping with my daughter i'm looking for somewhere a bit more mainstream but when I head out alone, as I often do, I would appreciate something more off the beaten track.
My question is, has anybody here used one before and if so, what did you think of it?

Used them loads, even (and especially when) the kids were small. Good cheap holiday. There are always other kids around for yours to play with (giving you a bit of peace and quiet). Many of the sites they use have hookup and toilets/showers too. At Easter we stayed on Hendra at St Ives on the THS - normally about £24 per night to stay on the main site, but was only £7 per night including hook up! Also used the smaller 5 van sites for quiet weekends away. Again, more and more are installing loos and showers. Give them a go!

Yup use them a few times , well cheap. All have a fresh water tap and somewhere to empty the bog.
Billymaye is king of the c&cc temp sites , he has just done 10 nights and cost .... £68 !!!
Most have some kind of entertainment on , bingo and something for the kid to do , but you can do as little or as much as you wish , It has never been rammed down our throats to join in .... well ok the egg throwing was but that was funny

Like Madwitch say the smaller 5 van sites are good and cheap , well worth seeking out :ok

Thanks for that, I'll go and have a look. TBH, the main reason I haven't stayed at one is that I didn't really get what they were about. i found it all a bit confusing with their Club sites, Certificated sites, Listed sites, Temporary sites and Club meets. I've stayed at some Club sites and Certificated sites and I guess Listed sites are just any old site which happens to be listed in their guide, but never got my head round the other two. i'm easily confused mind.
