Can anybody explain how a fuel pump relay works?

Post by mattydubster »

Hi everybody

Well I am really stuck on this one - after trying to sort out why my van wouldn't ignite, I have finally managed to get it to strike up but then it suddenly dies...so I'm getting there. It seems to be the fuel pump relay, it's like a dual relay with 11 terminals on it. I can't get one anywhere but I'm sure I can make one, possibly out of 2 standard relays? I just don't understand how the fuel pump relay actually works

My engine is a 1980 2l CV fuel injection one

Any help greatly appreciated

Cheers

Matt

Page 41 shows you the current flows through the fuel pump relay.

Hi Herb. Thanks for the info but with a bit of patience and a visit to Maplin I made a new dual relay myself and it cured the problem! Seems that the old one had come loose in its metal housing and caused me quite a few problems :?
