FRIDGE RUNNING ON GAS

I've been on the wicki and it says the fridge must not be more than 3 degress from the level to light on gas. Does that mean front to back or side to side?
I have often been parked up at an angle and never had a problem. Why is the angle a problem? Cheers.

I assume it's to do with the flame being vertical and not heaing the correct area

I have a small spirit level, the one with a central bubble target, and I level it up the best I can with the level on the ice box shelf.

This is a strange one - I have parked on some awful slopes yet have never had any problems with cooling or flame being extinguished - yet other people have problems with the slightest of slopes. If it is working for you on slopes with no problems I wouldn't give it another thought. (We can just stand and grin whilst others have trouble )

I believe that if the van isn't level the condensed gas/liquid doesn't run back down efficiently and so can lead to there being no liquid at the bottom to be heated by the flame and so resulting in loss of cooling effect. simples.....

We have never had a problem with slopes either. I have cleaned the jet and upgraded the fan if that makes a difference.

I was told by someone when I first got a van that it must be level. We used to spend ages getting it level. Even used a spirit level. Now we don't bother.

I may be wrong but i understood that if the fridge was not level the flame was at an angle and over time burnt away the casing that surounds it.

As these fridges have been running off level for 20 - 25 years without these perceived problems mentioned in that link I for one still will not bother with the degree of accuracy stated, (6 deg. fore and aft, 3 deg. beam to beam), the fridge will still outlive me! (Whilst continuing to work away happily at other, greater, angles).
