How far east?

Nice site just outside Llangollen by a ruined abbey. Not exactly Snowdon though

Walks up to Llangollen castle (if you are energetic) or along the canal to Llangollen town. Pub nearby just a few yards uphill from the site, back up the road towards the horseshoe pass and a nice little cafe on site that sells amazing burgers.

Hi, there is quite a nice campsite called Nant Mill which is in Prestatyn and virtually next door to Rhyl where you are going. Prestatyn Hillside is almost directly behind the campsite with some lovely walks and a nice pub in Gwaenysgor. Close to sea and shops in Prestatyn and close to Rhuddlan Castle. Never camped there before but i used to live in Prestatyn :)

Another nice campsite is at Carrog on the A5 a few miles to the west of Llangollen. It has an overspill field next to the steam railway station and you can catch a train into Llangollen. Good pub in Carrog overlooking river and some nice walks. Nice drive up Horseshoe Pass, down Nant y Garth Pass and through Ruthin and Denbigh to get to Rhyl.

Neither of them are Snowdonia but at least you might miss the worst of the bank holiday traffic in Snowdonia and along the A55

Have a good trip whatever you do. :ok
THAT WOULD BE AN ECUMENICAL MATTER!

Thanks for the help. I just used Snowdonia as a kind of reference point

Have tried Nantmill but as with most they are booked up (didnt take bank holiday into account  )

The van is in the garage for some unplanned maintenance so was trying to keep fuel costs down abit :rofl

Thanks again am now checking the others out
