non starter

Post by lhd »

Hi all.... my brothers van wouldn't start after filling up with petrol, he thought it was the battery so went and bought a new one £87.
This made no difference so we are sure its not that. The solenoid was clicking but no turn over, there is 12v at the starter and it started easy after a bump start.
I'm sure its starter motor but thought I should check in case theres something I have overlooked, I dont want him to waste another £100.
cheers Rob.

Could be worth checking all the earths and connections, before he does spend any more, if he hasn't done already Rob.

As Simon say's it'll be the earth of either the gearbox or where the starter touches the bellhousing. Take it off and clean all terminals and the mating surface, check gearbox earth strap is apotless then smear with petroleum jelly ..... not KY Rob
