View before buying? Why break my tradition?
Sounds like its worth a punt at this price (£1800) as long as you've got space/time/arsed. Could easily be a world of pain though.

Re: ebay 16" doka
Its the 'bit of welding' id worry about.
I once heard about a bunch of blokes who clubbed together to buy two Dokas sold unseen that needed a 'bit of welding' and got a little more perforation than expected

Re: ebay 16" doka
Anyone serious about buying a 16" syncro doka would have a £5k minimum budget, so that leaves £3.2k aside to tidy up any loose ends!

Re: ebay 16" doka
looks like it went for £2,100. That has got to be a reasonable deal, wish I'd bid a bit more... still the missus would have killed me

Re: ebay 16" doka
I messaged the guy to try and get the Vindic separately (to no avail) and he said he lost 2k, but learnt some valuable lessons about big projects.

If your selling a Mk1 ABC mountain bike/gun/dog/aeroplane you google 'Mk1 ABC' and find owners club/web site etc etc
£2k is a lot to loose for being too foolish to use google.
ho-hum.

Re: ebay 16" doka
I hope the new owner contacts the forum with updates.I think I would be less daring and buy one with UK registration,MOT and sound engine/transmission. Maybe I'm getting too old and boring !!!!
Good luck anyway

Re: ebay 16" doka
Hi All
Sorry this is sometime on from this post, just thought I would update it as I bought this Doka
It's now mot'd and registered and appears to be running well. It was in pretty good(ish) order, basically only needing a full brake rebuild and some rebushing. The guy I bought it off hadn't got very far with it apart from taking lots of it apart and buying none 16ins bits for it that he couldn't get to go on!
I still have all the bodywork to sort out, none if which is too bad; but as I was desparate to use it, this will have to wait and will be done as and when.
I've got some photo's from it's first camping trip which I will post again.
Hope to meet with you all, as I would like to get to some of the events.
Steve

Re: ebay 16" doka
hi steve,
i was keeping an eye on that auction too. i also have a swedish 16" ( ex vattenfall ) doka with a vindic canopy. it is the first car i have really loved since i lived in a split screen as a teenager.
if the gearbox and visco are all sound then i think you got yourself a bargain.
hows it looking now? and what part of the country are you?

Re: ebay 16" doka
I'm in north wales. Everything sounds alright and I have four wheel drive; I've never driven a syncro before so don't know if the vc transfers power as quick as it should. The truck doesn't really look any different, I've started to get rid of the sign writting on it and fitted sliding back windows (for the dog
). Next jobs are to sort an exhaust leak on a flang, spent bush on a rear shock and to get the fuel gauge to work.
I'm hoping to avoid a full respray, I've tried a bit of blending in on it which looks promising. I seem to be rattling through my limited miles which must be a good sign.
