retaining wire missing

Post by avant-garde »

Hi, yesterday I changed my pushrod seals for the first time and I noticed that there was no retaining wire. Can anyone tell me what the purpose of the wire is for (other than to retain)? Do you think that by not having them I will do damage, have oil leaks etc? I only have one oil leak now as opposed to five leaks before the change.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

I notice that VW Heritage sell them so I may buy two from them. I don't suppose anyone has a picture of how they are meant to be fitted by chance?

Hello,

Frankly I dont bother.

The tube with new seals is such a snug fit.

The tool I use for putting in the new push rod tube is.... the old one, and a gentle mallet.

Cordialement,

:ok
