idle valve

Post by KINGPRAWN »

having sorted the timing on my dj tick over hit 1300rpm..turns out the idle valve wasn't working part 035 133 455 f...i had a spare injection system so used that one...idle came down nicely but is still a touch high 1000/1100rpm ish after a run. the part number on the spare is ???? 906 457 lookes the same but bad a little take-off on the connecting pipe..i think the spare system i have is mv..my van is (now) dj. not so sure as i have altogether sorted the problen as the idle screw is max IN..was going to bin the old origional but thought i'd see if it worked so put 12v accross the two pins and it most certainly isn'd dead if thats how you could test it for stuckness!...not atall sure i get the hum that folk mention and cant feel it clicking when running with either. if i squeeze the tube when its running engine slows and if i unplug it dies with both..but.. its better with the wrong one :? any ideas guys :idea
in too deep to quit now....

025 906 457 A is our one
035 133 455 f is off a golf or off a 1.9 fuel injected T3 engine
if disconnecting them kills the engine then they are functioning to some extent and doing the required, probably want a wash with brake cleaner they can get sticky, pop 12v across them you can observe the plunger movement
a combination of idle speed, timing and co adjustment should bring the idle down a bit, screw the co in full and see if it drops to 850, nb the timing was done with idle control bridged, vacuums off the advance unit and vac hose blocked yes ?
use the rubber connector hose with no extra outlet, that's off a ss i think, some mv's too, just need the plain connection otherwise there will be an air leak
