Thatwhat this is twin diff lock decoupled I think it's a good copy including all the fridge, eber that stuff.

The only thing that's wrong is the raised bed.

I would even by a caravelle and put all my westy stuff in it so unofficially it's still a westy? Or would that be wrong?

I've got loads of questions not mechanically but more interior based for originality

You can put your stuff in a caravelle, but you'd need a westy roof pressing so you get the flat roof. I think you will get a much better value syncro by buying a caravelle and putting your stuff in it. I might even be looking for a westfalia camping interior next year, I'll give the mutivan interior a year and see how practical it is. Might even end up making my own.
As for the raised bed , Jake's done something to his so he's got storage under the rear mattress

The roof shouldn't be a problem I'd fit the *cough* high top so I can lug more stuff around then possibly a pop top later on when they are a bit older.

I wanted to convert mine to syncro but after you've bought the diner done the work it's more cost effective to just buy one and swap mine.

I thought westys had the caravelle roof or is it just multivan and westys?

From what i understand they leave the factory with there own roof pressings. I think if you want it to look original you will have to swap the roof

Doesn,t a Mosaic roof get around the conversion problem, ie all the look of a westy but without needing pressed roof.Bed fits in a different way? Could be wrong tho :D

i think the poptop sits on the roof, rather than sunk into it. So you get less space at the back of the poptop. Thats my understanding anyway

Thats correct.
The fitting of a westfalia interior in to a caravelle can be done but there are a lot of things people don't take into consideration, then have to bodge it.
For example the roof of a caravelle is concaved the roof of a wesfalia is flat, therefore the overhead locker over the rear seats will have a big gap over the top and wont secure in the same way, same as the wardrobe. There are actually two different weekender interiors ie rear wardrobe and overhead locker, one for a pop top roof and one for a tintop roof, all due to the different roofs.
Obviously it can be done but I would imagine any westfalia owner could tell the difference amile off, thats why the roof pressing is so important.
Right who wants to buy one. Only joking I would never be able to get the shell picked up by the scrapper otherwise.

If you chop the roof off at the pillars I'll have it off you ;)

I know the owner of an original 16" Syncro Westfalia Joker. He told me it were number 3 of 4 (he was in the former Westfalia museum and they told him this fact). It's in very good condition, AAZ, P2 Bumpers, 16" P2 Rims, the interior was refurbished at Westfalia some years ago. He bought it new and the family loves the car.

Thats interesting as that accounts for two of them. I know they are rare but would have thought there were more than 4?
Were they ever sold in america or only in europe?
Rob.
