Faded grills

Post by blurb55 »

The grills on the bus have faded to a kind of marbled effect and look pants. Anyone got any advice on the best way to return them to black without whatever is used flaking off after a few months?

faded grills

Hi Paul

I wet n dried mine and gave them a nice Black Satin makeover with a spray paint from Halfwits.

I had to buy new clips for the bottom grill from JK's.

But they looked like new when I refitted them.

good luck

Yes...paint is good, I chose a pikey black two pack gloss.
rub it down or have it fine silica blasted.

My grilles turn white/silver so I thought sod it and sprayed them silver. I try to kid myself that they now look like the stainless steel one I had on a Landy - they look stainless steel if I take my glasses off. With glasses on they look wank!!!!

Halfords Satin black, did mine 2 years ago and still look good with no flaking. As with all painting make sure you flat it down well and degrease them thoroughly.
