diesels are 65A but it doesn't matter as long as it fits and the pulley is correct

Ah so there is a problem...
What's happening?
Not charging?
flickering lights?
ignition light glowing?
You can remove the brush pack and look at the carbon rods to see the wear on them

An exchange/ reconditioned Alt will come with a new brush pack and reg
I guess a new one would too

Sounds like your alternator isn't charging to me. Why not let a local auto-electrician have a look? It was a snapped wire when mine went in Ireland

Well there's not much that can go wrong in an alternator apart from the Regulator brushpack and the bearings.
For the tenner the brushes cost it's worth a punt
you can always keep it as a spare
this is the brush pack

Any re-conditioner will test the Alternator and tell you if it is scrap, which I very much doubt it is.

before you spend money, get you a bit of wire and a bulb, and check and see if the alternator is actually working..( use a multimeter if you have one) because its quite common for the cable from the alternator to the battery to go rotton and not connect well ....
