Hello,
I'm sure this has been addressed here, but so far I have been unable to locate a thread on it. Are the heads for the 1600 (CS or JX) and 1700 (KY) diesel engines interchangeable? I am finding myself in a serious pickle, with a 1700cc in need of a new head (in Santiago, Chile) and none to be found. Wondering if I can widen the search parameters.
Also...I think I know the answer to this but I'll throw it out for consensus anyway. This is a van I am hoping to buy. I was having a compression test done and as the #4 injector was being tightened after the test, a chunk of the outward facing part of the threaded section broke off of the head (maybe 5cm-ish square). The guy was taking about welding it, but for such a small piece in such a high torque/pressure area it seems a bit shady to me. Anyone think this is an acceptable course?? Any advice?? Like I said above, a new head is proving almost impossible to find here.
Thanks!
