1984 Petrol T25 stalls on hard deceleration

Post by glasshopper »

Has anybody encountered this or found a solution to this problem?

The van has been stationary for two months and this has now started happening frequently.

Has anyone got any ideas.

I gave my carb a really basic clean.

Thanks. NICK.

not an answer but for what its worth I avoid hard deceleration with the van in gear - why put strain on engine and gearbox when you can let your easily replaced brake pads take it?

Hi Thanks for the reply.

I am going to get my carb jets cleaned tomorrow - at the moment when I say hard deceleration maybe I described my symptoms incorrectly - it only takes a slightly heavier than normal deceleration for this to show itself.

Thanks ... I will keep looking for an answer.

NICK.

Your servo pipe may have a hole in it (or the servo may be bad)... if there is any prob with the vacuum pipe supplying the servo, when you apply the brakes, the engine will stall.
With the engine running at tickover, try pumping the brakes, if the engine stalls I'd look at the pipe.
