Hope you're all well and been enjoying the summer so far?
Excuse my absence on the forum have been mega busy with work.. Pah! Me wanna be spending more time on Tonka.. Aaaarh! Have managed some undersealing. lot more to do tho.
Am looking to get an awning for me red bus and have seen the munich 2 by just kampers. Looks good and seems well made and practical. Will this fit the extra height of the Syncro.. or is not really an issue where it hooks up to the drive away section?
Looks a good awning nonetheless. Any comments, recommendations greatly appreciated on what is good to go for. Are there any good red awnings about?
NO! I haver never seen one. Hi Tonk how are you doing. The rolls royce of awnings is the Motordome classic from KHYAM The excellsior is the one shown here on a BFO motorhome. http://www.khyam.co.uk/image/news/Motor ... elease.pdf
they aren't cheap at about £350 but they are extremely light and VERY quick to erect even with one person. They dont seem to produce enough to meet demand so there always seems to be a problem getting them. Searching ebay look for KYHAM aswell as people spell it wrong! You may need a guttermount as most awnings attatch to a J rail or fig of 8 which is attatched to the side of the high top. I think Just kampers do some gutter mounts. As for height any awning will be fine as they are designed to attatch to the high top which is higher than a Syncro.
Hi, we have the munich awning from JK and it fits fine, takes aroung 15 20 minutes to put up if the other halfs helping a little longer if she's not playing
I can only agree with Hacksaw bob.
We had a tunnel JK awning - which was a real pain to put up. Bought a second hand Khyam last year for £250. It really is fantastic. The only slight negative point is that it takes up twice the room once packed up - but that's not really an issue.
It came with a figureofeight thing - so attaching to the gutter is dead easy
and height is not an issue - their designed to work with some really bug motorhomes.

I've got the smaller bluebird custom one with 2 hoops and it fits fine. It's one of the better quality hoop awnings I've seen (reflected in the £165 price tag for the small one) and takes about 15mins to put up. In the bag its about the size of a large dome tent.
Survived some serious wind at bank holiday too, despite looking quite vulnerable when I removed the van from its side. Reckon the frame tents'd be better in this respect though if you can bothered carrying them around....
Thanks for the responses, soz it has taken while to get back to you. It seems I have no spare time at all the moment. My usual busy summer work thing.
Will look into the Khyam and the JK awnings. Need to get one to use in about a month for 10 days working on a festival site. Want to get the best designed and practical I can find.
