Clutch Pedal Adjustment

Post by TeamSid »

My clutch pedal has 14mm free play before it comes into contact with the master cylinder but my Haynes manual tells me that it should be no more than 0.5mm. I can't for the life of me see how I can get to the pushrod to adjust it. Any tips? Thanks.

Yes 0.5mm according to Bentley - you would have to remove the cotter pin from the clevis joint before you adjust it if you can't just undo the lock nut and rotate the push rod. 14 mm would be far too large a clearance.

I'll give it a bash tomorrow. I hope it's got enough adjustment to give me 14(ish)mm movement.

try holding the pushrod firm and move the pedal.

most of the time the play is due to the pedal and pin wearing , the hole will go oval from round.

the adjustment wont sort the wear but can remove the play.

ideally the pedal needs removing and either replacing or repairing.
