5 speed, jumps out of 1st gear

5 speed, jumps out of 1st gear

my 5 speed diesel likes to jump out of 1st gear, particularly on over-run but sometimes whilst accelerating. Can someone point me in the right direction or better still, give me a full diagnostic and go straight to the fault :)
