brickwerks steering rack bushes

Post by pierce »

Hi,

I have bought some of the replacement steering rack bushes from brickwerks and I am trying to gauge whether I have enough time to fit them before I go on holiday.

http://www.brickwerks.co.uk/index.php?p ... t&Itemid=3

Someone has quoted about an hour on the brickwecks site, is this about right, taking in to account the ususal rusty bolts etc.

Also where exactly do they go (I know if I looked at the van this probably would be obvious :) ) Are they actually on the steering rack or are they on the steering column.

Any help would be much appreciated, as I dont have much time.

Thanks in advance

Done this job other day, i would say like most things its in the prep, i.e. make sure you've got the right size sockets and spanners etc and then the actual job is really very simple and self-explanatory as you will see when you get under there. They are fitted on the horizontal member either side of the steering rack and there are no probs you are likely to encounter......unless bolts are in truly terrible considition- i'd suggest you WD 40 the night before if you want to make it a bit easier. It does make a difference if you are using the poly bushes.

Fitted the powerflex bushes on mine last weekend and cant believe the difference. Very happy and it took me 1 and half hours, about 20 mins on the last bolt with the upside down and arms in the air lack of energy :D
