open glove box, no winkers. close box they work

Post by Hbee »

T25 early version of fuse box.

At first the indicators would not work. The Haynes manual said try emergency switch - nothing so i got a new relay and magically the indicators worked.

then one thing led to another.

it is a lpg conversion and when the indicators were fixed the gas relay did not click. that's the second click, the fuel tank level worked.

searched the forum, gleaned an idea of what to do and cleaned a couple of earth connections, but not the crowns as it looks like i need a stubbie screwdriver for those. Sprayed with WD40 and reassembled, closed glove box. LPG relay still not working on completion, indicators working.

i rang previous owner (family member) who told me that the indicators had played up about 6 months ago, but by opening and closing the glove box they came back on again.

sent email to Gasure asking for location on wiring and any fuses.

This morning, nice sunny day here in deepest Cornwall, got the meter out, voltage on the rhs (red) fuses 16v, nothing on the lhs (white) fuses which leads me to suspect I now have a bit more to do than just swap out a relay set.

The haynes manual says test at other fuse points listed under 'specification', read the book, can't find any mention of other test points and I'm trying hard to understand the wiring diagrams

Advice please on what may be going wrong, apart from my own ineptitude and reluctance to dive into the birds nest of wires that is, just where do I start from here ?, obviously wishing I could turn the clock back a few days and just opened and closed the glove box and spent today fishing

read the forums, spoke to Steve at Gasure ( thank you if you read this), cleaned the earth crown .. there was original paintwork and the fixing screw appeared to make the earth.. swapped a few of the rear( i.e front of bus ) earth wires onto the new clean front crown, put the wire that was flapping about onto the fuse board and all ok. 4 days head scratching, 3 hours labour. if I knew what I was doing it would have been a 10 minute job. Note to self , when you change the relay, be careful not to loosen wires.
thanks to all who have posted :)
