Gearbox Codes??
Can anyone help! My T25 Gearbox has gone pop, so now i am on the search for a new one, however it seems that there is no code on the box i have already!! i have looked all over the under side and everywhere i can see, but nothing!!
Is there a way of finding out the code without finding it on the box??
Or if anyone can tell me what it should be, its from a 1987, D reg, 4 speed, manual, 1.9 Caravelle.
Thanks.

Re: Gearbox Codes??
chances are it's an ABD, by far the most common, and no I haven't got one ready to go as Tom Courtney (post below) had the one I did have in stock off me last week, but I do have some rebuildable ABD cores and can build one up, but not for another 3 weeks as fully booked at the mo
Re: Gearbox Codes??
thanks, are there any other likely codes it could be? or is it almost certainly an ABD code box?

Re: Gearbox Codes??
it could be a few, the only way to know if the case is so corroded that you can't read the code is to open it up and find out what final drive ratio the crown and pinion are and then look that up on the list and work back
if you check the build sticker (white paper label under steering column at knee height usually) if still on the bus the original code is on that, I can't remember if the gearbox code is on the metal plate under the near side seat

Re: Gearbox Codes??
ive been and looked, unfortunately the paper label is long gone!

Re: Gearbox Codes??
nope that's body info, colours etc....I didn't think the code was there
Re: Gearbox Codes??
I think ive narrowed it down to 3 possibilities! Can anyone tell me how i can identify the engine kw so i can narrow it down on the chart further??
thanks.

Re: Gearbox Codes??
The DG is 78ps (whatever a PS is) but if Aidan say's it's likely to be an ABD then I'd take that as gospel.

Re: Gearbox Codes??
thanks everyone. ive traced it back using the engine code an a bit of research! turns out it should indeed be an ABD box.
Aidan you certainly do know your stuff. thanks.

Re: Gearbox Codes??
could have been a ABB though, as you realised so you have to check that's why I only said it's probably an ABD, as they are by far the most common for that year
if it was an ABB and you swapped it for an ABD you'd have been peee'd off at the loss of top speed/increase in revs so it pays to check
