Oily stain on front carpet
I managed to get an oily stain on the carpet in the front of my van. What is the best way to remove the stain? I've checked the wiki but cannot find anything. Cheers.

Household detergent I'd have thought. They spray it on oil spills don't they?

cillit bang may work, but like all thing test it first,as it may spread the oil over a bigger area

Re: Oily stain on front carpet
Top tip for removing oil stains in fabric generally is to initially work washing up liquid into the stain. This loosens it after which you wash in normal washing machine detergent. This has always worked for me if I got oil (even CV joint grease) into clothes so no reason why same principle can't work for carpets. Don't use hot water or it will fix the stain as can 'experimenting' with unknown cleaners. Nothing with bleach in it either.

if you can find any, there's a cleaner called 'Elbow Grease' that is fantastic on oil stains; I've used it carpets, clothing & upholstery with good results
