Rob - value your opinion.

Will patronise our local dealer as we have managed to get some gpod deals over the years and makes any guarantee issues easier.

Were likely to be in N Devon surfing at the weekend and could try it out then! How do you attach yours - pole and clamp or figure of 8?

Bought one last year and was really useful in the soggy weather we had on hols in Devon. Goes up quick and loads of space - we use the sleeping area to put bags, car seats and other cr&p in and sleep in the van. Huge bag though. Fix ours with a pole and clamp (which does not come with the awning) at the moment but will be hanging off our Fiamma wind-out once I put it on.

I had one and sold it, didn't like it. I was maybe put off by the first time I used it one of the joints snapped, managed to just about keep it propped up for the holiday though. Thought it made the van dark and was a pain getting the van lined up again with it. Kept getting the material hooked up on the sliding door. Though I accept this maybe just the way I pitched it???

Bought a Qercha pop up tent instead, the square one that you can stand up in. I know it doesn't attach to the van but I like that better. Seems to be more space as well. And also a lot cheaper.

I don't understand the need to attach anything to the side of my van. I have an awning but it sits about 30 feet away when on holiday. That is where my daughters sleep and that way they do not wake me up in the early hours of the morning when they are going to bed. It also save people walking through the awning with wet/dirty shoes/feet just to get into the van.

Managed to get it pricematched at Somerset Camping. New at £279. Should be delivered on Weds.

We have younger children and want to be able to sleep with the van door open and awning zipped up.

Fingers crossed!!

If we are staying put we use the fig 8 strip. If we are going out in the van,we use the pole and clamps. As its easier to attach back onto the van.

Folks,

Used the awning in anger this weekend at Croyde. Worked well - and got rained on overnight. Simple to erect and strike - and there is loads of room inside. Very happy campers.

We use the roll out awning in preference now due to the size of the bag. But when we used it previously found it great as it went up quick with 2 small children this was critical as they would be screaming to be let out of their car seats while we set up camp. Never had a joint fail on me but some friends I know did in a high wind. Had an awning pole fall against it at a festival and the fabric ripped, easily fixed with tent repair tape its been fine since

Now used twice and it's perfect for our needs. Six camping in the van and awning last time and no frayed nerves or complaints. Survived the storm a week last Saturday night on the north Devon coast whilst others were struggling not to lose their tents and awnings.

Not sure how robust it will be in the long term term - we'll see how it copes in France!

Post resurrection!! Just wondered 2 years on how the awning has proven its self? Still holding up? Would you recommend it? Thanks
