knock knock

can please somebody help me! i'm new to all this camper business and since ive owned my vehicle, may of last year, ive been plagued by a knocking from behind me. its intermitent but annoying, varying in decibels, and it will either come when accelerating or decelerating. ive changed both of the CV joints, brake pads, and had various mechanincs look underneath and scratch their heads. also, its also as if she knows that im going to get it looked at because as soon as i get a mechanic in the passenger seat, it stops knocking. only to reemerge as soon as im round the corner. can somebody please offer me any advice on this?

There are outer and inner CV joints, so 4 in total. Could be a million things, record it and stick it on you tube? where does it feel like its coming from? increases in line with speed? comes in at a particular speed? cornering? bumps? Dull thud metalic ping? get descriptive! get a couple of mates to rock the van without engine running and see. Find a deserted road and coast for a while in neutral still there? Get someone else to drive while you hunt around in the back for the source (on a private road of course!)

Stone in hub cap/wheel? loose wheel nut/s? Its crystal balls time I'm afraid without a bit more.
