87 Westfalia underlay cleaning

Post by cmorris2104 »

Hi,

I am in the process of cleaning the carpet in my '87 Westfalia Joker and have removed the carpet from the van to do this. I've found that there are two yellowish foam inserts on the drivers and passenger sides under the carpet, whcih I assume gives structure and shape to it. These are both mouldy, as they have been exposed to water and I would like to clean them.

Any advice on how to clean these would be greatfully appeciatedl, as I do not want to ruin them.

Cheers

Charles

Maybe try a spray bathroom cleaner for mold and then let them dry out. Could use a bleach and water spray, not much bleach is needed. Maybe a cap full to a gallon of water. Mold doesn't like bleach!
