oil pressure...there must be hope out there...

Post by chukaspaz »

hey,

ok so I think Iv established the fact that my van may have a problem...the oil pressure light stays on so it must be that causing the tappets to sound like a sewing machine. Iv been online looking for solutions to this problems but to no avail so I'm having a last ditch attempt before I drive it into a field and kick it until it explodes. Is there anyway of regaining the oil pressure or will I have to replace the pump? and what sort of concequences does this have on my tappets or engine? i read on a thread that some guy was told he might have to replace his engine? aaaaarghhh! ahem.

cheers!!
James.

hey,

its a 1.9 1984 petrol water cooled...it has started doing it recently...Iv ordered an oil filter off JK which should be here in a few days...Im gonna change the oil and filter and add 20w50 oil...not sure whats in there at the moment cause Iv only had it a few months which is even more frustrating. As I said, the oil light comes on which apprently indicates the pressure not the level so I dunno...

cheers for ur help!
