wider rims in 15" size

Post by ericos_bob »

Going to fit 31x10.5x15 tires in the future or when I can be arsed modifying my arches, trailing arms etc. Having trouble finding a steel rim with the right offset and width. 7" rim is a minimum for this tire size. What is available in that width with an offset of et25-30 or close? Have found a couple of suitable alloys but have already dumped a heap on a set of rhein alloys so wouldn't mind going with steel. Has anyone modified their sliding door hinge to clear a tire this wide and how did you do it? cheers, erik

Was looking into the same but couldn't find any with Vw pcd was looking at either 16's, landcruiser or landrover wheels (lots of both around and cheap could buy with tyres on them ) with adaptor spacers to reduce the cutting chassis etc as not just wheel arches to cut, have to allow for width of tyre. et would be out but just factor in reduced bearing life. Might have to rethink the sliding door tho maybe hinge it or gulwing opening? 7j width is really pushing it for 10.5s need 8 minimum, could always look into getting a set of wheels banded but think would be a lot more expensive than spacer adaptors and prob back to major bodywork cutting

Get you steels banded to what ever width you want! Do you have a sliding door to contend with?

Awesome video jed. Like the yellow merc rims though it sucks they bend so easily. Still be worse off running a set of sub-par alloys. Perhaps I can get the stronger mefro's mentioned taken out to 7".
