Choke cable - 1.6 diesel

Post by matt brighton »

Hi

1982 1.6 CS Diesel

My choke cable has snapped - the inner solid wire bit about 12inches from the knob.

Looked at web sites for usual suppliers but cant find - can anyone point me to a supplier ?

Thanks

Matt

Its the cold start cable matt, but we know what you mean, I have never ever ever used mine, did you need yours prior to it snapping?

if it's only 30 secs I would leave it as is.... having decent glow plugs and giving the engine a couple of "wait for the light to go out then turn off the ignition and go again" sessions on a cold morning should be fine
It is by will alone that I set my 'van' in motion!

Thanks for that...

I have spoken to wagenbuild who are (hopefully) getting me one of a van they are breaking.

Local vw dealers list them as £12.02p new...... - but NLA .

Appreciated

yep i searched for weeks and couldent find any new ones in the UK I was prommised a couple from Breakers but they were damaged taking them out.

The one from Germany seems to be an origional Vw part. not cheap but all in all not that expensive for a new bit.

Good luck

Si
