Post by rubarb »

Hi, Does anyone know what type if sky light goes on to the roof and/or where to buy one. Mine is starting to look grubby and cleaning is not working.
Cheers

They are an old size fitting. You need to measure the hole in your roof as newer ones usually need a larger hole.

Take it off, clean it up then put it back on with new stainless screws (ebay) and sikaflex

A pain to get the rusty screws off with mole grips but worth it in the end.

It's a nice june job for maximum daylight hours

Is it an" elixir" roof light ??

Name is stamped on the unit somewhere ... heres a cut and paste from my previous post...

"If you have a Devon conversion with a cracked and sun bleached Elixir skylight - or need repair parts i may have found a supplier.

Having spent ages ringing around and searching on internet, the only supplier I could find for elixir 14X14 skylights was in america -

I didnt want to replace the complete old original Elixir unit with the newer Fiamma white ones as I think it would look a bit odd being brilliant white (orange or smoke seem to be the original vent colours) and the fiamma required the hole in the pop top enlarging so I have been putting up with the original whilst searching for reasonable condition secondhand.

I have found a uk company called ABP accessories tel 01664 561494 - http://www.abp-accessories.co.uk/product.php?cat=26 - who stock elixir spares and have ordered a replacement today - they do other repair and replacement parts for the older skylights"

Hope this helps you...

Matt, that site looks like it has the same type as mine. I don't fancy making the hole bigger either. I will double check the sky lights make tomorrow.

Cruz, that's brilliant put me onto the same site as Matt's post so I think you are both on the right track.

Thanks guys.

If yours isnt elixir but the skylight itself is the same I guess you could swap the hinges.

They are made in Japan (Hong Seng Industries i think) - I too didnt fancy laying out the cash for a complete new bigger fiamma unit as a bit scared of cutting a bigger hole in the pop top.

With p&p mine came to about £30

The prices for complete units look reasonable too

Let us know how you get on,,

The vent is a Venline which seems to be the same as a Elixir according to ABP Accessories. £45.00 complete with trim but not the fixings and sealant. Execellent - result
Again guys, thanks

Good price for a complete unit.

I treated my pop top roof to a t cut and wax at the same time - the new vent really freshens up the look of the camper
