Just trying to make sense of a few things if you take a look at page 2
http://www.syncrosport.com/data/currflo ... _KY_JX.pdf
there are marks like T3/3 and T7a/6 J52
and then there are some like 4/86 3L and 7/50
What do they relate to?
understanding wiring diagrams

Re: understanding wiring diagrams
Hi Bob,
They refer to connectors, relays etc listed at the foot of each page. So 'T3/3' means pin 3 on connector T3. Where you have something like '4/86', that means pin 4/terminal 86. (Terminal 86 is an example of the DIN terminal ID's used by VW, for a list look on Baxters site). If you look at them long enough they should start to make sense !

Re: understanding wiring diagrams
Nice one Andy.
Also if you have a number like 42 in a box that is a wire disappearing off somewhere the only other 42 in a box I can find is the 42 in the warm air blower on page 83/11 but this would mean the air blower is run from a wire coming from the glow plug relay is that right? Or is it the 42 on the lower earth line on page 83/4 if so why didn't they just show it going to earth on the same page?
Also the wire guages are marked 1,0 0,5 etc does that mean 1mm 0.5mm cross section? What would I ask from a supplier to match the existing wiring?
And last one. the D15 E4 are they the pinouts of the multipin connector blocks on the back of the fuse box?

Number in a box indicates a connection to the matching position number (the positions are shown across the bottom, L-R). Just look for the complementary number in a box (where the connection is from). The diagrams are done that way for clarity I think, to avoid too many crossing lines.

Yes. Untinned stranded copper wire, PVC insulation.

Yes. Sounds like your getting the hang of it !
I have to say that we're lucky running older VW's, I've recently been working with later wiring harnesses, and the documentation is not as good as for the older cars. Also the complexity is much greater, the way they've done the wiring in 3B Passats is just mental. I reckon the sweet spot for VW wiring as regards hackabilty is the Central Electrics 2 stuff from the '90's.
