Using Sat Nav with no cigarette lighter

Post by herby »

(I bet this is meant to go in the 'Technical Q & A bit... ;))

OK, so - i really really want to install Sat Nav, but it *has* to be removable.

Problem is, the van has no cigarette lighter socket, which is how this kind of thing normally works (or so I'm told).

Given that there's tons of electricity in my van (what with a leisure battery as well as normal car battery), how can I make this happen?

Heh, I'll be good. ;)

I had the same thing, I just wired in a cheap and cheerfull extra cigarette lightler socket from my local Motorist's Discount place with an appropriate sized fuse under the dash.

There are some very nice multi socket doofers on ebay in fact and I picked one up for a song the other day. If your batteries are under the seats it's very very easy to remove the plug from it and wire it right in (remember the fuse again :D ).

Thanks for the reply. :)

Btw, if Bandwith is an issue, I'd suggest fewer animated sigs / animations all round. That'll save you tons more bandwidth than the occassional accidental double posting by a confused newbie. ;)
