mmm 1.9DG and when I start it up it drips abt a tablespoon of water from the system ( has antifreeze in ).
It's coming from either the water pump ?, or most likely from the steel pipe that runs behind the flywheel and joins the pump, that I have recently replaced.
What I don't understand is why it chucks a bit of water out for the first couple of minutes of running and then stops, what is that all about then ???. Is it the sign of impending water pump doom ?

Not being a clairvoyant you really need to locate where it's coming from. Get someone else to start it whilst you look then people may be able to give better advice
Did you renew the gasket on the pipe? Could it be the gap is closed as the pipe warms and expands?

knick the missus's talcom powder and "puff" some round the suspect pipe, then fire it up and you may see where it runs.....
once the thermostat has opened it may be less likely to leak from there ........
