Having a new roof next week - excited!

Post by TravellingChick »

Finally got around to booking the van in for the roof to be re-conn'd and a new fibreglass cap from Autovans in the West Country.

It's a solid sided pop top with piano hinges and the sides are 2 separate flaps. The seals are all pretty ropey but it's been fine until last summer during Croyde Monsoon it started to leak.

Spent ages trying to figure out where the water was coming in, re-sealing all the corners and the skylight etc. Did no good, in rainy weather I'd break and an indoor version of niagra falls would gush down. Luckily I replaced the carpet with vinyl last spring!

Anyway, am wondering if I should empty all the cupboards of cooking/eating equipment and foodstuffs or not - the house will look like a campsite if I have to pull it all in from the van LOL.

Will take before and after pics - am so looking forward to a warm, snug and DRY roof bed!

Sarah

ps: hoping they can fit my propex in the budget for me but I can't afford a propex gas bottle yet so might just hafta ebay the heater instead......

Good luck, sure it will look great
By propex gas bottle, do you mean, just a standard gas bottle (i have a spare one somewhere) or an underslung one?
I've just won one on german ebay for about £90 delivered from austria Hope it works
So keep an eye out on there (there is one on there now)

Thanks Lloydy.

To be really honest I don't really know how the whole propex thing works. I'm not flush enough for a leisure tank so was just thinking of getting a propex bottle to hook up to until I can afford to put a leisure tank in. Last time I looked the propex bottles were pretty expensive tho.

If I can get it fitted in budget then at least it's there until I can afford to hook it up - no rush as the weather will start warming up soon I hope LOL!

Am stupidly excited about the roof tho
