Eberspacher Gurus help wanted

Post by Realize »

Hi Guys

I am trying to get the eberspacher working on my 81 westy 2ltr air cooled.

I believe it is a B2l as I managed to read the sticker tucked out of the way.
I removed the flexible exhaust pipe as it was corroded and holed and am going to refit a new one tomorrow.
While the pipe was off I tried starting the heater and after a while I got some heat coming through.

So I had a look underneath to see if the exhaust was coming out ok and to my horror found petrol dripping off the bottom of the heater shell.

I am hoping it is only a split fuel hose.

Anyone know what size fuel pipe I need to order and where from? I want to make sure it is going to last.

Any one know if there are any parts inside the heater that could also be leaking fuel?

Cheers for any advice.

Jay

If it is in that bad a state I would remove it and give it a full service rather than just replacing bits here and there. It most probably could do with a decoke and general fettling. It has obviously been abused and could do with some TLC. You can get fuel dripping from the exhaust if there has been several attempts at starting but they are usually cleared on the purge.
Plenty of exhaust and fuel hoses on Fleabay.

Hi

Thanks' for reply, the purge you speak of is this something that the heater does automatically?
I got my T25 last year and have no instructions with the eber, it just has the basic rocker switch with cold air off or hot and the dial.

I did flick it on and off a few times so maybe I flooded it and as I had the exhaust disconnected it probably ran straight out of the side and down the outer case.

Is there a guide any where on how to refurb one of these?
What parts should I be replacing?

Cheers Jay

If you pm me your email I'll send you a manual. Minimum you need is a gasket set if you can't make your own.
