Syncro Caravelle to Camper Project

Post by Peninsulakid »

Well I've gone and done it. Syncro fever has definitely got me. Worse in fact after the day on Salisbury Plains. Adrian ( 1 of the 3 that day ) told me about this van.
http://gallery.me.com/richlloyd#100195" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
After a lot of thought and thinking about the yellow high top that Simon Baxter put a post up about I bought it. Its RHD 1.6 JX turbo with 16' Merc ML rims. Turned out the guy who was selling it is the owner of T25 Direct on ebay. I enquired with a few guys on the forum who said beware, but I have to say Mike was 100% honest and genuine all the way down the line. He even put into the deal without me asking a spare exhaust system and extra glass so the the van would be all tinted green glass instead of a mixture. He also went 60 miles out of his way to collect something I bought on ebay. Van was delivered with new MOT and new turbo. Can't ask for more and would definitely deal with Mike again.

I bought a panel van to convert to a camper but after much deliberation decided to keep it as a panel van for work, so the plan is to put the high top and interior from this,

into the caravelle.
Hopefully she will be ready for the Spanish trip for me and my celebrity guest!!!!
Any advice and thoughts on the project would be really welcome.
Cheers All

Rich :D :D :D :D :D :D

SSSHHHHH!!!! When the project is finished. She doesn't understand Syncro fever at all, although we went to Brecon over the weekend with friends and they insisted on going in the doka. So Lou was outvoted by 3 to 1 and boy was it worth it. Van purred all the way up and back, loads of room and we could see over the hedges. I think she could see the positives and her mate loved it. Wants me to find her a pink one!!!! and you think I'm potty! :ok

Hi folks
Sorry for the lack of posts, been bonkers busy. These picks were taken on the 10th

http://gallery.me.com/richlloyd#100200" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

and the outside work is now nearly complete. Away at the minute can't wait to get back and check out the progress. Decided to run 15" steel rims and have done a deal to swap the merc rims for a set. One day hopefully they will be replaced by mefros!!!

Great project fella, and even better shed. I'd love one of them!! :lol:

Talking of advice on things you should stay away from, there is a T25 for sale a couple of roads away from me & it is God awful, one of the worst T25's I've seen, seams & gutters made/plastered with fibre-glass. I had to stop just to admire the true the nastiness.....Got full MOT though! :D

Van looks really sad with the boots she's wearing in the pics. Rims are being shot blasted and rubber will be ordered from Dr Lee very soon. Hope to get her on the road asap.
Cheers Rich

Hi Adrian.

Thanks for the comments.
Coverted to RHD got an Audi 2.5 V6 150 BHP Auto fitted but project not finished. Caught Syncro fever when project was on stop!!!!!!!! All my funds have been diverted so project has been moth balled until funds become available or someone as mad as me crosses my palm with £5k and can have her to finish! There is more pics if you follow link back to my gallery and then choose H van album
