Hi folks, can anyone help!!
I am looking at wanting to increase the amps coming out of my alternator, does anyone know if there is an alternative to the standard air-cooled unit that can be fitted straight in without the need for modification.
Cheers folks

Yep a 65A alternator was an option.

What are you running when the engine is on then?
big wattage spots, plus a 150watt stereo and a rear screen heater?

Hi kev
I have the crank battery linked to a lesuire battery via one of those small dual charge relay things that you wire directly from the crank battery in said of the alternator.
Then off them comes lights radio, tv (and fridge whilst on the go). So I want some thing that will be man enough to charge the crank and the lesuire whilst on the move. I heard people have put a 90 amp in their vans but it the modifying im worried about. I just want a straight swap or if someone out there also has a modified alternator already for sale?
Thanks folks for the help so far.

Standard alternator will do that. The battery desides how much charge it can accept not the alternator. The battery can only take a high charge for a short period which is not usually more than 15-20A initially, then drops down as the battery charges up. you only need to uprate the alternator if you have added lots of extra bits of kit such as fog/spot lights HRW etc which could be switched on when you are driving.
