Bubbles in Water system
I checked the water levels on the Multivan this morning. There was no water in the tank behind the number plate. Topped it up with 50/50 red anti freeze and water. I've notice, when the engine is running, there is a continuous stream of small bubbles coming from the left hand pipe in the same tank. Should I be worried by these? Think the lack of water could be due to replacing the blue temp sensor. If there is air in the system, is it easy to bleed?
thanks
thanks

The last thing you want in there is air - bleeding instructions are in the Wiki. Can do it on your own, but a hell of a lot easier with two people I believe.......

Thanks, and I realise this should be in a differnet section!! The wiki refers to a header tank, expansion tank, and to ignore the tank behind the plate. Which is the header tank? The expansion tank is in the engine bay. Also, where are the bleed screws located? Ive taken the top grill off and see a bolt on the top of the radiator on the top left of the front of the rad.
thanks

I found this article on Brick Yard really helpful and easy to follow

Re: Bubbles in Water system
eer.............I didn't say I actually knew how to do it.
I was just pointing you in the right direction......have you a Haynes manual? I have seen it done and actually 'helped', but not enough to go through it for you. Have you tried the 'Search' facility too? Or post a question asking which tank is which..............

Yeah have a haynes manual,,,,we are moving house so its been temporary mislaid amongst a mountain of boxes! found your response really helpful, I'll have a go over next weekend, I was concerned that the bubbles might been something else other than air in the cooling system. I get a lot of steam at start up that takes a long time to stop, so thought this might all be linked to possible head gasket issues. WE are about to drive the van down to Granada in Southern Spain so want to make sure all is well.
cheers

If you're in Granada, then do the additional few km to Sevilla and pop in & see these guys, they'll sort you out
