T25 rear light Cluster

Post by nesty »

I know a stupid question, but do 1984 T25 have 2 rear foglights at the rear. Today I was doing a pre-light check for MOT. I only got 1 rear fog light working in the O/S cluster.

I went to replace the bulb in the rear N/S holder, but no bulb present (just like in the picture enclosed being sold on ebay, there no bulb either)? I've never touched mine before, so is that normal for nothing to be there?

I should know this, but to be honest I can't remember if I ever tested my rear foglights, or just seen one working and put it in for MOT. I suppose it passed like that in prevouis years?

The MOT only requires one fog light - on the offside or centreline. If there's two, no problem. If there's one, but it's on the nearside - fail.

Lots of manufacturers only put one on - there's some guff about how it's "safer", because it "prevents confusion with brake lights" <cough>ollocks. It's penny-pinching. Save 50p per vehicle, times a million vehicles, you've saved half a million quid.

Our German-import Westy didn't have any foglights - not a legal requirement in Germany in '88, so they didn't fit 'em. They can't spin _that_ as being "safer"...

Cheers many thanks for this. Yeah, I got one working fog light on the offside.

It seems like there has never been a bulb in that nearside cluster?

Thanks

As far as I am aware, english R/H/D Transporters always had just the one O/S/R foglamp, imports however weren't fitted with any and the O/S/R lamp needs to be modified to accomodate a bulb because the feed terminal is missing.

Ok many thanks for your comments. Looks like mine is standard and shouldn't be any MOT issues from the rear foglight!

I agree with Kev, fit a pair and fit something better than AVO, Bilstein B4's are quality straight replacements but you may also consider Sachs as a cheaper alternative but still a quality (reliable) brand.
