well hacked off
had the starter referbed and fitted it today, thought while i was there i'd change the glow plugs because starting was a bit rubbish, well 3 came out the last one was a tad stiff, well to cut a long story short the thread stripped off the plug which could have been worse, now i have a thread full of glow plug which im pondering how to remove, it's 1 step forward 2 back

Re: well hacked off
ouch, I don't know about diesel, but I have tried and failed to remove a corroded in spark plug after asking around first it was basically find the biggest tork bit that will fit the remains, ie the metal collar once the insulation and core are broken out, remove as much of the core as possible first then after plusgas, patience and then more, then heat then persuade the tork bit into the collar and then unwind, if you put it at almost top compression stroke (ie all valves shut) for that cylinder it should keep any debris at the top of the cylinder, then if you get the remains out you can then use airline to blow out the debris or the most of it before it has chance to score the cylinder
that's the theory, didn't work for me the tork bit was harder than the spark plug collar was stuck and stripped the middle and the next size up was too big it actually wanted to wedge the plug collar in, so it was a head off job for machine shop instead, if it's the one behind the pump then it's probably easier to do the head rather than take the pump off and fail to remove it and then have to do the head anyway
but I don't know about diesels
