Alternator Squeal

Post by Bamba »

When driving along at various engine speeds my alternator will start squealing for about 2-3 seconds then stop, during the squealing my engine sounds like its missing & loses power for the 2-3 seconds, it does this every 15 mins or so & there does not seem to be any sort of pattern or sequence it just starts, the belt seems to be tight enough & its only when i am driving along, its a 1.6

Sounds like it's doing it when your cooling fan kicks in, drawing extra load from the alternator. Can make the belt squeal sometimes but the extra load should be covered by the battery. Is your battery ok?
