temp. sensor fitting?

temp. sensor fitting?

i bought this temp. sensor from gfs a few days ago. they said that it plugs into the bulk head/engine area, haynes manual says temp.sensor goes onto the thermostat housing...
have looked at the sensor on the thermostat housing, it looks totally different to this sensor, the original one (on the thermostat housing) looks like a nut with the sensor on top

just wondering if im trying to put it in the wrong place? or whether it is the wrong sensor for my van (1985, 1.9dg)

what engine and year is your van as there are 2 types the 2 pin youv'e got from GSF and also single pin sensor fitted on some which do screw in

(would help if i read the footnote instead of looking at the pics 1.9dg i see)

My old engine had one of each type in it.

If you have the cast metal thermostat housing its probably the one in the picture and one of the type you have (that's what mine was), I've just replaced with a complete plastic housing and it needs two like that you already have.

JK part number of the one in the pic - J10726 cost: £4.18
