Shackleton's birthday today (15th February)

Post by silverbullet »

I nearly posted this in Camping, but it wouldn't do the great man justice (like this does... )
A true hero in every sense of the word. Greatness personified.
Question is, would he have been a syncro man or an afficionado of some other brand of 4x4?
I mean, to buy anything other than British back then would have been unthinkable!

Mate at work is Great Grandson of Petty Office Edgar Evans of Terra Nova Expedition ( 'Scott of The Antarctic' expedition) fame.

He drives a passat.

I reckon so. Major Blashford-Snell and the Darien Gap expedition springs to my mind for some inexplicable reason...

Sorry I was trying to make a joke. Since he died in 1908 I guess his options were rather limited.
