anyone using 30mm spring spacers?

I've got a set of fronts, and i am getting a set of rears. Ive been in contact with henning, who recommend longer shocks and HD CV joints. Now whilst i believe they are correct, that adds up to a lot of money.
Is anyone using 30mm spacers with none of the above? Or just longer shocks? And what are your experiences? Shocks topping out? Eating CV joints?
Any opinions would be grateful

I'm picking them up from dubfreeze, just trying to collect some information on wether it's to high for me. Will probably end up in your ownership, so hold fire on getting yourself any thing for a couple of weeks

Don't have much experience of lifting but considering the lift which is about 40mm about an inch and a half would think you would definately need longer shocks or modded shocks and an upper ball joint spacers for starts cv joints would probably last for a while but to be safe would probably need to invest in them in the future to avoid unneccesary failures hope thats of help

Hold on a second...

Lloydy yours is as a 16" yeah? you cant fit "HD" CV's as they are for 14", the 16" has different CV's and As far as I am aware there are no "HD" 16" cv's...
The 16" also has the lower shock mount (swing arm) made lower, actually reducing the amount of available travel.. yes the CV's are "stronger" but the allowable angle of use is actually less.. thats why the shock is mounted lower on the swing arm (all syncro shocks are the same as far as I am aware...)
In your full on camper, you' might be fine as the weight will have settled the springs and the TD lump too...
So.. Fit the lift plates.. if it "tops out" then either less "lift" or live with it.. Fronts wont be such an issue as std inner CV has more than enough angle.. fit some small spacers to the top of the shocks and that will cure the "top out"...
Come and see mine at DF I'll jack a coner or 2 up and you can measure....

Of course I could be talking complete bowlocks..

my fronts were topping out before i changed the shocks. cant remember what height it was at though. 16" shocks are diffferent but not in length afaik.

Heavy Duty CV joints for 14" and 16" This CV joint allows a bigger angle of 23° (original = 17°) and can cope with much more power. Essential for high Syncros and powerful engines, available for 14" and 16" Syncro rear inner and outer and front inner. Outer front can cope with much more than 17° originally. Forget about the old heigth limits of 52cm between wheel house and wheel centre as these here can cope with much more! Comes with CV boot, grease etc.

from syncro services yes you can but would agree with toomanytoys fitt them and see Baxter sells 8mm spacers for the top of the shocks which may help

Cheers for the replies, guess it's not as straight forward as it seems. I shall wait to see what it looks like with the new tyres on and take it from there.
Don't really want to fork out on new CV'S, shocks ect to not actually gain much, so they could be passing on straight to Mr Jed

If your running 16" shocks my understanding is that they have a stronger pull push effect so will stop the topping/bottoming out Syncropaddy has a 2" lift on his 14 with 16 shocks and normal cvs and as far as I know he has had no problems I'd say go for it the shock spacers will help as they give you 8mm more. Also if you have the original springs thay will have sagged so you will probably be running slightly lower than new and so although the lift will be what it is it may not be as high as if installed from factory and thus angles on cvs and shock travel won't be effected. Personally I would go for it see what she looks like and drives measure working angles and then decide you can always take them off again, whatever you decide at least let jed stew for a while he deserves it
