Windscreen Washer FIXED

Post by weldore »

The other day i noticed the washer motor was sounding a bit ill and i had a burning smell when pulling the lever and eventually it failed.so i took the bottle off from under the front and tested the motor,it was fine.my thoughts were then that the wiring had burnt out somewhere ,so i had to trace the faulty wire.i started at the stalk on the column and found the culprit right away.
theres a little set of contacts just under the washer/wiper stalk that is open to all sorts of dust and crud under the cowling...a good clean and a little bend on the moving contact and away she blew again

you can see the contacts just above and to the left of the ignition barrel

sorry if its already in the Wiki...i just wanted to share this so noone else has to take that bloomin awkward bottle off to find the problem is as easy as this
the word 'pissing' is safe
