Wales for the first time
Planning our hols for this year and already decided on cornwall in june, france in august but looking for somewhere to go for a week in april it struck me we have never as a family visited Wales (i went there once many years ago in the navy) so fancy giving it a try
had a look on ukcampsites but there are so many sites its hard to know where to head for
as the other 2 holidays we are planning will be fairly busy affairs with lots to do i fancy something a bit more laid back - taking the dog so a nice quiet site with plenty of scenery and walks would be ideal
any tips for general areas or specific sites would be appreciated
cheers

North Wales is beautiful. The site in Llangollen where the new years bash is held is stunning. I think it's called Abbey farm park. Nice walk along the canal into town.
Martin.

I liked camping so much I went full time.

The Bus Types show is in the middle of April about 1 mile from the Welsh border, perhaps you could incorporate this in your trip.

I love Wales too, and the Welsh. The ladys sound like they are singing to you every time they speak and the blokes sound like they are telling a joke ever time they speak. They have the best campsites in the UK and the best ones are all free

Head for the Brecons Beacons, Pembrokshire and then back up the coast.
Lovely free spots and campsites in the Brecons Nice little town called Criockhowell

We have camped many times at Cae Du in Beddgelert. Right in the heart of Snowdonia and close to the coast. Well run and scenic campsite with lovely riverside walk into the village. Don't tell everyone though!
THAT WOULD BE AN ECUMENICAL MATTER!

Re: Wales for the first time
Try Pembrokeshire
Great beaches, fantastic walks and I can recommend a site (well a field really) in a great village called Bosherton just a pub, cafe and church just inland from a couple of beautiful beaches. The cost £3.00 a night had the best holiday in Wales have a look on Google Earth - that is how I found it! if you want any more info let me know but this part of Wales is beautiful and I would recommend it to anyone

Hi,
I would reconmend the Gower / Swansea area, everything you need beaches and campsites even a great night life if you felt like it?
However Rest Bay in Porthcawl is a must on your way past for a bit of surfing!

Re: Wales for the first time
I'd say the other Cae Du is our favourite ( http://www.cabbagemedia.com/campsites/w ... 54-711234/ ) Campfires, sunsets, beaches... and last time we were there a bunch of other T25's to have a nose at... including mine's twin which felt a bit like 2 girls turning up at a party in the same dress (although thinking about it now I reckon our upholstery was better)
If at first you don't succeed... pretend you never tried.

We usually have an annual trip for our club at the Stackpole Centre near the Bosherton Lily Ponds - the scenery there is fantastic and it's much less commercialised than other beach locations in summer. I haven't seen the campsite but the location is fabulous. Broadhaven beach and Barafundle Bay constantly appear in guides for Britain's best beaches and they're rarely crowded.
If you prefer North Wales, Shell Island isn't everyone's cup of tea but it's still one of my favourite sites - if you find a good spot to pitch it can be as quiet or active as you want and there's nothing quite like watching the sun set over the sea with Snowdonia as your backdrop. Nantcol Waterfalls isn't far from Shell Island, there's a good site there too.
