Roof Box Advice, Size, Weight etc?

Hi All,

I've just been to see a roof box for the van, but I'm not sure of the practicality of it, although it looks pretty cool on the van. It's one of the thinner, longer ones (approx 70cm x 2.3m), and the thing that's worrying me is whether I will be able to lift the roof which such a large top box even with the addition of the heavy duty gas struts, as per Jed's van?

Most of the roof racks/boxes I've seen on folks vans in the garage section are all smaller ones situated near the rear of the pop top roof, which I assume makes it easier to pop the roof.

Any thoughts from anyone on this?
