Dash clocks with a rev counter?

Post by Iceworx »

Just a quick question, I have a 1.7ky powered bus, and the dash pod only has a speedo with clock on it.

Seen that some other vans had the rev counter options in there too..

If I get a diesel clockset with rev counter, do I need to make any wiring changes to get the rev counter working as well?

Hello,

you should be able to plug one with a tachometer straight in - pin 9 on the multipin connector is the RPM signal from the alternator - you could check you have this on the alternator itself (W pin I think) but it should be fine.

yes , plug and play
some early vans did not have a rpm sensor (oil buzzer) signal

later 84 on vans will have this which is from the 'w' terminal of the alternator.

as long as you have blade fuses the wiring is the same.
