And make sure you have the trim panals off too as you want to have access to both sides of all welding.

Re: back wheel arches
Good question, my van will be going in for some welding soon and I was wondering just how much I would have to strip out to help save time, I guess I might as well bite the bullet and strip it all out....

It depends o0n your heart and pocket!!!nevill3 wrote:Good question, my van will be going in for some welding soon and I was wondering just how much I would have to strip out to help save time, I guess I might as well bite the bullet and strip it all out....
Put it this way I wouldnt do ANY welding on a van if I didnt have clear access to the area on both sides, this includes either side of engine bay or fuel exp tanks etc, half the battle with preventing/extinguishing fires is getting at them
Another thing to consider seriousley is smoke damage and the lingering stink..
welding produces some lovely fumes and often lots of smoke, this will be absorbed by your soft furnishings so as youve rightly said bite the bullet and get it out, no doubt you will find more gremlins but van will be known better byt you and in better order for it..

After what you wrote there Mike i think i will just patch it up for this year as i still have to finish building my garage and after the camping season is over i will strip it down as it will give me plenty of time to do the job right.
