How to remove multivan side panel

Post by lloydy »

Trying to remove the side with the table built in. How do you do it? Found a couple of screws under the r&r bed, but can't see any more. What am i missing?

Open the table and remove the 10 or so screw fixings holding the table top to the metal leg.
with the bed out you will find a load of screws around the lower edge (and rear edges) of the plastic panel once they are all undone you can pull the bottom edge away from side of van, open table up, pop the top edge out of the channel and the slot will pass the table bearer allowing the panel to be removed - you can remove the complete table and metal bearer by undoing the two M6b bolts that it hinges by but be aware of the nylon bushes etc.. and tbh it doesn't make the job much easier and refitting it can be a faff, especially if you drop anything down behind the panel .
also note there are two different type of screws used to fix the table to the metal bearer, one a self tapper, one more like a fitted unit screw, make sure the correct ones go back in the right holes

I changed the self tappers at the bottom edge for rivnuts and machine screws to make removal and fitting easier in future as self tappers are carp (they are hidden by the carpet)

cheers, i can't see any self tappers at the bottom, they might be lower than the ply floor? I'm only trying to find a route from front battery box to rear to power the eber. Might just go under the van.
Thanks, lloyd

yes if you have a ply floor then they will be hidden by that - you should see the main panel sticks out above the floor - mines not a genuine multivan rather a converted Velle and I fitted the interior myself - the live feed to my old eber went under the van - that's where the VW garage fitted it
