Greetings
Just wanted to say hello to all you T25 owners. I've just become the proud owner of a 1983 T25 1.6 turbo diesel.
This is my first ever camper and am looking forward to spending many hours bringing her back to her former glory.
Obviously with a van of this age it needs some work doing, a few new panels, the inside updating and rock and roll bed fitting. The engine runs ok however it does smoke quite a bit (white smoke especial just after starting her which does seem to dissipated at higher speeds then returns when in first/second). The gearbox is a bit sloppy but seems ok. She cruised on the motorway nicely at 75 from Bristol to Staffordshire with no problems. Does anybody know of a good/reliable/trustworthy campervan mechanic in Staffordshire/West Midlands. I'd like to get her mechanically sound before sorting out the bodywork.
How easy are rock and roll beds to fit? Should I go with a JK one or a bluebird? And what about seatbelts for it? So many questions I have but will leave it there.
Cheers for any advice.

Re: Greetings
Hi, ebay always has good priced R+R bed kits on but a good bit of advice I got recently was to sort out interior furniture then get the bed to fit. Depends on tasete I suppose. Good luck with the project and post some pics please.

Re: Greetings
As far as a mechanic goes, I have a good bloke here in wolves, he's no VW fanatic but has old school knowledge of engines like our flat fours, he gives honest appraisals and prices.
I'm sure you could find a fella round by you that could fit that bill.
long established, with the boss still twirling the spanners. Ask around, ask questions, ask for a quote to change the clutch, They should quote labour for a gearbox drop plus an £85 clutch kit. or a quote for crankshaft pulley oil seal replacement, and ask what they have to do, how they do it, will determine just how much they know about VW flat fours.
